I read an unhealthy number of thrillers in preparation for starting my own this month, but I did have a lot of fun. There’s also some good fantasy sprinkled in between.

Dear Debbie, Freida McFadden

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A seemingly innocuous housewife goes on a spree to get even with anyone who wronged her or her family. This thriller wasn’t perfect, but I love me a revenge story. And this one was filled with people getting what was coming to them🤌🏼

Crossroads of Ravens, Andrzej Sapkowski

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A story of how Geralt got his famous principles and had to grow up real fast after leaving Kaer Morhen.

I loved learning more about Kaer Morhen’s and Melitele’s Temple history. Also, this gave me a fix of those old Witcher vibes I craved for so long.

Don’t Let Him In, Lisa Jewell

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The rage this book unlocked in me is hard to describe. It is horrifying to imagine yourself in the shoes of any of the women in the story.

Slayers Of Old, Jim C. Hines

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Three retired heroes live in a magical house/bookstore, and – to their great frustration – have to save the world again.

This was so quirky and entertaining. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes humorous/cozy grounded fantasy.

Cross My Heart, Megan Collins

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A woman gets a heart transplant and then starts obsessing over the husband of her donor.

So Happy Together, Olivia Worley

‘I was well-acquainted with it, the rage. Sometimes, I loved off it the way a body begins to eat itself when it’s starving. Sometimes I let it go too far.’

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A novel of an extremely creepy obsession.

The Tenant, Freida McFadden

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

‘Is it such an awful thing to want retribution against people who have wronged you?’

Unhinged book. So fun.

The Crystal Shard, R. A. Salvatore

(Legend of Drizzt #4)

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoy the band of characters we get to meet in this one.

The Ex, Freida McFadden

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Literally just a nightmare sequence of events because a crazy ex can’t let the man go.

Post-Mortem, Patricia Cornwell

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Read this to watch the new adaptation (‘Scarpetta’, do recommend), and it was… fine. However, the MC is very cool.

The Perfect Son, Freida McFadden

⭐️⭐️⭐️

A young girl goes missing, and the MC has a terrible suspicion her teenage son might have something to do with it.

A Twisted Love Story, Samantha Downing

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ugh, this book was frustrating. It’s a story of an extremely toxic relationship between two garbage people who also share a ‘dark’ secret.

The Lucky Winners, K. L. Slater

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I vaguely recall this was sort of entertaining.

The Wife Upstairs, Freida McFadden

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The MC gets hired to keep company with a woman who’s been in a terrible accident and was left disabled. The woman’s caring and loving husband seems like a dream man, but that might all be a facade. Or not.

I mean, the MC was not the sharpest tool in the shed, and the plot was predictable even for me (I’m really bad at guessing the twists, in part because I’m actively trying not to do it).

The New Neighbours, Claire Douglas

⭐️⭐️⭐️

A sweet older couple moves into the house next to the MC’s, but she soon realizes they might be planning to do something bad. It was easy to read; however, the twist was quite far-fetched, and the tension is somewhat uneven throughout the book.

A Happy Marriage, A. R. Torre

⭐️⭐️⭐️

This one was fine, but I had genuinely already forgotten what it was about.

The Boyfriend, Freida McFadden

⭐️⭐️

The start was fun: an unexpected murder, creepy boyfriends, and whatnot, but the twist was ridiculous.

We Were Never Friends, Kaira Rouda

⭐️⭐️

Sorority sisters’ reunion in the luxurious desert house threatens to unearth the truth about a decades-old accident that’s been bothering everyone.

I failed to connect with any of the characters and/or care in the slightest about the central mystery, so this book wasn’t for me.

The Coworker, Freida McFadden

⭐️

Say ‘turtle’ ONE MORE GODDAMN TIME.

Literally everyone in this book was insufferable, and not in a good way.
