As a rule, I don’t enjoy short stories much, but I do love Harrison, so I gave this a try and didn’t regret it.

Darling Bud, C. J. Skuse

A new book in my favorite Sweetpea series. This time, we’re joining Rhiannon’s daughter, Ivy, on her journey to deal with loss and build a new life for herself, even when her mother’s shadow haunts her.

I loved seeing Ivy as a teen and checking in on all the characters of the series. I can’t wait for another bloody installment of this.

Dowry of Blood, S. T. Gibson

Told from the perspective of one of Dracula’s ‘wives’, this book shows him as an abusive asshole, which, to be fair, makes perfect sense.

Such Sharp Teeth, Rachel Harrison

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Werewolves are my least favorite supernaturals, topped only by zombies. Still, it’s Harrison, and I wanted more from her after the short stories, so I gave this a go. It was surprisingly fun and had the author’s distinct style.

House of Hollow, Krystal Sutherland

This book was so full of creepy vibes that I sort of regret reading it now, instead of in autumn. It was a quick and wonderfully dark tale of monsters and death.

Tantrum, Rachel Eve Moulton

A mother is convinced her infant daughter is a monster. This short novel was so weird, I liked it.

Bad Things Happened In This Room, Marie Still

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The MC thinks her husband is holding her hostage in their house, but it becomes clear nothing is what it seems. I think the book was well-executed, though I wasn’t too impressed.

I Let Her In, Sophia Spiers

Meh. Typical thriller, not memorable, but a good way to pass an afternoon.

Cookie Calamity, Cindy Stark

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Out of the blue, I felt like reading a cozy paranormal mystery, so I picked this one. It has all the ingredients of the genre – tiny town, cute bakery, talking cat, and murders. Entertaining, but I’m not sure if I’ll continue the series.

Sweet Little Lies, Leah Cupps

Awfully written, tiresome, predictable, and boring as fuck thriller with the main character who has a ball of candy floss where her brain should be.
